Miami Beach Adult Entertainment: Tokyo Valentino: Neighbors Want Miami’s Newest Gay Club Shut Down

February 16, 2012 - No Responses

It’s not so much that neighbors in the Upper Eastside of Miami want the Tokyo Valentino closed simply because it’s a gay club. In fact, they’re more upset that it may not actually be quite such a proper gay club. They think the club, which sounds like it was named after an Asian drag queen obsessed with couture, is actually an adult entertainment business. Now, Open Media Miami’s Sergio N. Candido reports the City of Miami has opened an investigation.

Family community? This place is still crawling with hookers, crackheads, and homeless. Leave the gays alone. They will at least bring some civility to the area. O ye great journalist – this statement “  adult business are not allowed within 1000 feet of a school or residential area “  Is that a county rule or a city rule? The school is located far north at 87th street – has to be over 1,000 feet away? The residential neighborhood? You mean the skid row a …

Upper Eastside residents in Miami want new gay club Tokyo Valentine shut down
A recently opened gay club in Shorecrest has drawn the ire of local residents who believe it to be an illegal adult entertainment complex. The owner denies it, but the City of Miami has cited the business and opened an investigation.
The club in question is Tokyo Valentino, an after-hours lounge at 8330 Biscayne Blvd. Customers who pay the $10 admission fee can take advantage of some features common for any lounge — a dance floor and a game room with pool tables — but there is another part of the business that has drawn the attention of city officials and residents: private rooms and viewing booths. The viewing booths fit two people, while the rooms feature leather day beds and flat screen plasma TVs.

And children are near to her heart. Villanueva is the  mother of two girls and a boy, and  balances target practice with their ballet classes and basket ball tournaments.
“It’s mom, the taxi!” she claimed.
It’s all made possible she said, thanks to the best partner in the world… her husband, who just happens to be a lieutenant with the Miami-Dade police department.
” A great officer, great father, excellent husband. Works with the home invasion unit. So my poor children have danger on both sides,” noted Addy.
The two met on assignment. It was one of the many nights that brought her face-to-face with drug dealers , pimps and money launderers. She pointed out a picture of the first million dollars she helped to recover.

Miami Beach Strip Clubs: Del Rey/Playa Vista: Communities get lost in Council District 11 redistricting …

February 16, 2012 - No Responses

… It does not appear to make sense to divide up the community in this way at all,” he said. “I am not sure how many folks realize that Playa Vista was on the radar to be moved to a new district, but I signed Rosendahl’s petition and know that the local neighborhood council is very committed to this issue, including all areas in the neighborhood council district, which of course includes Playa Vista.”
Donell was referring to an online petition that the councilman’s office began for residents to voice their opinions about the redistricting proposal.
The Playa Vista Farmers Market would also go to Council District Eight.
Redick, who owns property in Del Rey, also worries that the Mesmer Triangle could be the target of businesses that many in Del Rey feel are not conducive to the neighborhood. Several years ago, a strip club called the Silhouette sought to set up shop in the light industrial triangle while Redick was on the Del Rey council.

Police department accused of racial profiling
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — Racial profiling claims are being made against a South Florida police department after some recent arrests were investigated by a public defender.
The Fort Lauderdale Police are focused on the high-crime neighborhoods in the northwest sections of the city. “In this particular area alone, last year, we received over 1,000 complaints,” said Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderly. “Drug activity, prostitution, information that led to burglary arrests, robbery arrests, and this is probably the most active crime area in our city.”
One of the deterrents used by the department is a 24-hour, 360-degree surveillance vehicle, called the Peacemaker. When homeowner Torren Poole was asked if he minded the vehicle sitting in his neighborhood, he said, “For one thing, it restores law on our street.”

Miami Beach Escorts: Should Miami Celebrate Its Lawyers?

February 16, 2012 - No Responses

Why should South Florida celebrate lawyers? It is a good question, especially after an unprecedented recent string of members of the Bar who are currently serving time in jail. A two-minute Google search revealed a Florida lawyer who was recently arrested for assaulting his girlfriend while naked and armed with a sword, another was a young lawyer recently charged with allegedly acting as a prostitute on an adult website.
Many are in still in shock over the conviction of Scott Rothstein for his involvement in a $1.2 billion fraud committed out of his Fort Lauderdale law firm of Rothstein, Rosenfeldt and Adler. A court-appointed trustee has filed lawsuits seeking some $500 million against various entities connected to Rothstein in hopes of recovering money for both investors and creditors.
Yet at this time, when the public perception of lawyers is understandably at an all-time low, the not-for-profit organization, Lawyers to the Rescue, has identified several South Florida lawyers who have set a new standard for their commitment to public service and is hosting “The First Annual Public Service Awards Ceremony” on February 28, 2012, at the University of Miami School of Law.

Miami Beach Strip Clubs: BYOB at Miami Beach’s Only Strip Club

BYOB at Miami Beach’s Only Strip Club
A city attorney calls the move illegal
It’s BYOB at Miami Beach’s only strip club.
Leroy Griffith, the owner of Club Madonna on Washington Avenue, has gotten around the city’s ban on booze and baring all by allowing his customers to bring in their own beer, wine, champagne or other alcoholic beverages, The Miami Herald reports.
“Why pay $500 other places?” asked Griffith, who does charge his South Beach patrons for mixers, cups and ice, the newspaper says. They can also get a hand stamp and buy drinks at nearby bars, which is not new.
Griffith says his new policy is legal in the eyes of his lawyers and the state Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.
But a city attorney argues the opposite.

Miami Beach Strip Clubs: Club Madonna, Miami Beach’s Only Strip Club, Says BYOB

February 14, 2012 - No Responses

Club Madonna Leroy Griffith’s favorite past time is ruffling the feathers of the inhabitants of Miami Beach City Hall. A long standing city ordinance forbids the sale of alcohol at strip clubs, and as a result Griffith’s Club Madonna is the only strip club in South Beach. Sure, it keeps competition away but Griffith isn’t a fan of the law. So now he’s gone nuclear: he’s allowing patrons to bring their own booze.

Griffith says what he’s doing is perfectly legal, but Miami Beach City Attorney Jose Smith tells the Herald that “clearly, what he is doing is illegal.”Sounds like it’ll be another battle between the city and the strip club. The tension between City Hall and Club Madonna has been building for years. Back in 2009 Griffith had city officials nailed with an ethics complaint, and last year escaped a fine for displaying a poster of Mayor Matti Bower shoving a dollar down a male dancer’s Speedo outside his club. And Griffith’s personal battle with Miami Beach goes back even longer. Hell, he once told New Times that he was arrested in 1961 for operating a burlesque show in South Beach.Follow Miami New Times on Facebook and Twitter @MiamiNewTimes.

Miami Beach Escorts: Five Reasons We Can’t Wait For The Franchise

February 14, 2012 - No Responses

Between Ozzie Guillen, Carlos Zambrano, and Jose Reyes, it’s totally gonna get seriously incoherent! Down here in South Florida, we’re pretty used to the colorful broken spanglish spoken all over the place — but you’ve never heard it spoken quite like Guillen: “I AM FINISH WITH MEDIA TALKY CAMERA. NO WORRIE.”
Throw in a reticent Reyes, and a slightly unhinged Zambrano, and get ready to sit back, relax, and enjoy the crazy.
2. Two Words: Logan Morrison.
This picture of Logan Morrison enjoying a bubble bath and some wine with teammate Bryan Peterson while grabbing his dong almost broke the Internet last month. Now LoMo is going to be on Showtime? The network that lives to show you titties? The network that exclusively makes movies about call girls and their secret diaries? Aww yea!
